Exciting changes are happening at Sundar India. The organization is taking a major step toward financial sustainability, creating more jobs for women, and expanding its reach to provide critical hygiene products to those who need them most.
Thanks to the generous support of Mr. Kobbi Shoshani, the Israel Consulate in Mumbai, and MASHAV, Sundar India has received professional-grade soap-making equipment and funding for an initial production run of 3,000 luxury soap bars. This marks a significant milestone—transitioning from an entirely donation-based model to one that generates income while continuing to serve underserved communities.
To ensure the success of this initiative, the Israel Consulate facilitated partnerships with Welingkar Institute of Management and MET Institute of Management. Their teams have conducted market research to identify the best approach for entering the Indian market, developed a comprehensive business plan, and designed high-quality, environmentally friendly packaging that will help position the new organic soap line competitively.

This initiative is built on a dual-impact model:
The new luxury soap line will be sold in the market, creating a sustainable source of revenue that supports the long-term operations of Sundar India. Women employed in the workshops will not only gain hands-on experience in soap production but also in packaging, branding, and sales—equipping them with valuable business and entrepreneurial skills.
Simultaneously, Sundar India will continue recycling hotel soap and distributing it to vulnerable communities at no cost. These free hygiene kits are essential in preventing disease and promoting better health for families who lack access to basic sanitation.
By running these two models together, Sundar India can expand its reach, provide more stable employment, and allow the women involved to take ownership of their futures. Instead of relying solely on donations, this initiative offers financial independence, skills training, and the ability for women to reinvest in their families and communities.

This marks a significant moment for Sundar India and the women it serves. By building a self-sustaining model, the organization is laying the foundation for long-term impact—one that provides both economic empowerment and life-saving hygiene access. The future of Sundar India is stronger than ever, and this initiative is just the beginning of even greater possibilities ahead.
